Here is Dana & Andrew's guest blogging post. Enjoy reading and watching their Arthouse Edit!
"Andrew and I got to know each other from our English & Music class in high school. He liked me but I didn’t know. After we graduated, we both went to Southern California for college, and he visited me a few times in school. I thought he was kind of cute so I asked him to a dance 2nd year in college…. Then we started dating! 8 years later… we got married! One thing I loved during the wedding planning process was looking at all the magazines & websites and thinking about what our wedding would look like. I think my favorite part of planning was that Andrew was there the whole time, picking out all the details of the wedding with me! For the venue, we decided to look at places in Dana Point because my name’s Dana. A friend recommended us to look at St. Regis, and I really loved the place when we saw it. For the decor, I love pink - so everything is pink. We also had welcome baskets for out of town guests which was another personal touch. The best decision we made was having Details Details as our wedding planner. She was so good and always there to answer all my questions and concerns. I still remember Jeannie helping me with invitations and picking out bridemaids’ shoes until 2 or 3 in the morning! I don’t think the wedding would be the same without her! My best memory of the day was being very happy when I saw Andrew when I walked down the aisle. The other thing was when I walked into the reception… it was even better than I imagined it before the wedding. It made me so happy when I saw it! My advice to other brides is to enjoy the day because it is over so fast!" - Dana
New Offering from Elysium! Video shot with a DSLR!
Check out these highlights from Jessica & Roy's wedding! This was shot entirely with a DSLR called the 5DmkII. Yep that's right... probably the same camera that your photographer is using to take photos! What is so incredible is that Canon gave this camera the ability to shoot TRUE HIGH DEFINITION video so in our little world, we finally found a tool to combine the two things we are always striving for: High Def combined with the look of Film (or photos). Normally, video cameras can't attach different lenses without having to add huge and expensive equipment to the front of the camera. These "adaptors" are great for Indie Films... not great for weddings - or at least the way we shoot weddings. We need to be as unobtrusive as possible. Having the ability to switch out lenses means you can create different looks as well as play with the depth of field (when part of the image - usually the background - is out of focus which haighlights the subject in the frame. This is a very common thing you'll see in photographs as well as big budget films). And the chip in this camera is STUNNING. The color and low-light capabilities is crazy awesome! I still can't figure out why Canon put this into a still camera vs. a video camera but I can only imagine it's because the photography market is so much bigger. In any case, we're excited for this new tool and we will start offering packages shot EXCLUSIVELY with these cameras!

Check out this amazing wedding!! The combination of Christopher Aldama's stunning design, Jeannie from Details Details' fabulous coordination, and the beautiful venue of Pelican Hill made this event over the top gorgeous! And i'm a little bit biased because I LOVED the colors!! Everything about this wedding was super cool. Just wait until the full Arthouse is edited because we couldn't fit in all the shots of the details in this SDE! There were too many!
Megan and Kyle were super fun to work with! Megan's hair was gorgeous and was done by the fabulously talented Eric Bilardi. The couple had a really fun day and we even had a few moments to skip down to the beach for some amazing shots. We shot with our good friend Victor Sizemore and assisting him were our friends from Cincinnati: Kortnee & Ted. After the SDE was shown on plasma screens, we moved into the After Party which also had killer decor. I'm sure Victor will post the photos soon on his blog. Wait till you see them! The couple truly enjoyed themselves the whole day and were just so happy to be married. It was quite moving!
All in all it was a fabulous day with a fabulous couple. Congrats you two!!

Today marks something new for the Elysium blog! We are going to be highlighting our lovely couples as guest bloggers. Tune in to hear what they have to say about their wedding and the planning process - and of course watch the video!
Our first entry is Susan and Paul who hired us to document their gorgeous "winter wonderland" themed wedding in January. They are so sweet and we loved working with them and their fabulous photographer Jessica Strickland! Here's what Susan had to say when I asked her some questions:
How did you meet? Paul and I met through the intervention of my Maid of Honor, Megan Okuley. She was Paul's co-worker and arranged for a group lunch date at Penn Station. Although we were both a little shy, we agreed to meet up one more time for a more traditional date and the rest is history...
What was your favorite part about planning your wedding? My favorite part about planning our wedding was watching my dream/vision become a reality. It was amazing to see my winter wonderland come to life just as I had imagined.
How did you pick your venue Considering the wonderland theme, we knew we wanted to get married in the heart of winter. Because Indiana's weather is very unpredictable, we thought it would be best to have our wedding at a hotel so no one had to drive once they arrived. We chose the Conrad because of its modern feel and reputation for paying attention to detail. The staff was phenomenal and always there to get us whatever we needed. From speaking with the Conrad and our wonderful event planner Casey Scott, we knew they would stop at nothing to turn my vision into a reality.
What kind of personal touches did you add to your event? We had custom made fortune cookies (Paul used a fortune cookie during his proposal), the trees were white to fit with the winter wonderland theme, baseball cuff links for Paul and a club DJ. We just tried to incorporate as many personal touches as possible to make the wedding unique to us.
What was the best decision you made during the planning process? Casey Scott! He was amazing, understanding, exuberant and an excellent listener. I don't know what we would have done with out him... I probably would have turned into bridezilla! Thanks Casey!
What are your favorite memories from your wedding Everything was so amazing, but taking pictures on the roof of the Conrad was really memorable. It also made us feel really special that so many family and friends were able to travel and be with us on our big day.
What advice can you give to other brides? Allow others to help. It will alleviate so much pressure and allow you to do what is most important... enjoy one of the most important and memorable days of your life!
Michel & Jay's wedding from the One & Only Palmilla in Cabo
ok... so I don't normally do this! I edited a quick recap of this wedding we shot on Tuesday at the Palmilla in Cabo. I had a day off after shooting four days in a row in three different cities (and two countries LOL) and was very restless. I also arrived at the airport yesterday 5 HOURS EARLY (long story) and without internet there, I had to entertain myself. Since we shot the wedding on the EX1's the footage was easily accessible. I grabbed the CD that Michel & Jay had put in our really cool welcome bag and picked a song from there. This definitely is just a summary AND a quick edit - so much more to this wedding - it was such a great day! Just wanted to share this real fast :) We shot with Victor Sizemore. Check out the shots on his blog!

Frances & Andy's Arthouse Edit from Trump National
Wow... what a crazy week! I wanted to blog a video before we extend the craziness into the weekend when we will be filming a couple of wedding and then jetting off to Cabo on Monday for another wedding. So here goes:
Frances & Andy were married at another gorgeous venue and one of our very favorites in the L.A. area... Trump National Golf Club. The view at this location is INSANE! We were able to work with the crew at Apertura - check out the beautiful photos on their blog. Frances & Andy have a mutual interest in cars... Ferrari's in particular and there were several parked outside. Needless to say I parked my car far away to avoid the Ferrari's being jealous of my fancy wheels (NOT!) The wedding was beautiful and Ada Chan from Ada Chan helped to pull it all together. Congrats guys!

Christine & Andrew's SDE from the Imaculata & Balboa Park
Check out Christine & Andrew's Same Day Edit from San Diego! It threatened to rain on Saturday... really weird S. California weather if I do say so myself! But luckily it held off and the happy couple were able to have their reception at the beautiful Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park. Their ceremony took place at the Immaculata... one of the most beautiful Catholic Churches in San Diego (it's on the USD campus). Before that, Alex shot thier traditional tea ceremony. It was a long day but we captured some amazing footage! We shot alongside Victor Sizemore (he'll post pics soon on his blog) and Michelle from Details Details was there to coordinate everything - I especially love the unique dance floor that was provided! Kathy Wright & Co. did the floral decor and it was gorgeous. To add to the already fantastic day, Jeff Holmes from Moondance was there to spin the tunes... he always gets the party going! Congrats Christine & Andrew!

Stephanie & Vadim's Same Day Edit from Langham, Pasadena
Well as you can probably tell, we've been hanging out at the Langham Pasadena quite a bit! Such a beautiful hotel!
This couple was awesome. Super fun and really down to earth. They had a beautiful church ceremony (I love the Coptic tradition of treating the bride and groom like a king & queen) and then it was off to the hotel for the party. The lovely Carolyn Chen took care of all the details and the event was beautiful! Isabel Lawrence was the photography studio.. they did a great job! I'm going to post a photo of theirs in a future post. Anyway, check out Stephanie & Vadim's Same Day Edit!
